[About] [some video image]
This installation project exhibits – metaphorically and practically – an artistic community’s work and their communal sense of affection. A community we fondly call “family,” our own fragment of Sicily. For a while now, we’ve been careful to create intimate and fertile relationships with those people who share passion and friendship with us. In time, from this practice collaborations of all kinds were born, along with long discussions, healthy drinks and pleasant hugs. “Hologram” is an artistic device which is capable of giving a representation to all this. A sort of polymedia installation in which projections, videos, live and recorded sounds, graphics, dispatches and texts communicate among each other through an asystematic model of reciprocal exchange, whose focus, instead of on the artwork’s objective value, is on its capability to continuously exchange emotional relations, and manifest them to the observer in an absolutely non-hierarchical way. This structure avoids the constitution of an ideological centre, to convey instead on an ideal emotional centre, which is the holographic projection of that reciprocity and complexity of relations that subsists among an “affective community” showing complexity and richness of emotions, memory and projects. The spectator, placed in the middle of this series of sensorial stimuli, undergoes to a – possibly unaware – loss of consciousness. Facing this emotional drift, the spectator is confronted with a choice: whether to begin a difficult research for a meaning or to let himself completely go. What canecapovolto wants to explore is the geographical locus you can find inside those eighteenth-century emotional maps, where emotions refer to the affective movement from the object to a different place.
